Foreign Affairs Minister Iurie Leanca said recently that the image of NATO in Moldova is dominated by stereotypes.
Mr. Leanca noted during the first meeting of the newly-created Committee for the Individual Action Plan within the Moldova-Nato Partnership that such stereotypes have been fed by the lack of good and impartial information about the values and purposes of the Alliance.
The Foreign Affairs Minister also accused the former Communist Government of „pretending” to implement security reforms which were agreed upon with NATO and promised that the new Committee will try to change the perception of this organization.
According to recent polling data, a majority of Moldovans do not want to join NATO.
